Chirpy Chirp

Hi there, I'm up on the Ink Road Blog today with this cute get well card. Get well cards are also great to have on hand to give someone who needs a bit of cheer. Let's have a look at the card. 

I love those cute chickies, they make me so happy. Let's get right in on how I put the card together. 

I stamped and colored lots of these chicks from the Chirpy Chirp Chirp stamp set from Lawn Fawn and a few from the Happy Easter stamp set as well. I did some quick Copic coloring on the chicks and then cut them out. 

I did some quick ink blending with some Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers to bring in some more color to the card. 

I used the "feel better" sentiment from the Treat Yourself stamp set from Lawn Fawn paired with the sentiments from the Chirpy Chirp Chirp set. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of cardstock and then popped it up with some foam tape for dimension. I placed the chicks where I thought they looked nice and then glued them in place when I was happy with them. I used the Quilted Stitched Pattern cover up die from Lil' Inker Designs for the top panel to give the card some interest and then adhered the sentiment. I added foam tape to the top panel to mirror the dimension from the bottom panel. I went over the chicks and flowers with some clear Wink of Stella to bring in some shine and called it a day.

Just Keep Swimming

Hello there, I'm up on the Ink Road Blog once again with this cute encouragement card. Let's have a look at the card.

I love this sentiment, it's such a happy way to encourage someone. Let's see how I put the card together. 

I used the Color Layering Goldfish stamp set from Hero Arts and Memento Inks in Cantaloupe and Tangelo. It's always a safe bet to stamp an image more than once just in case one doesn't work out, plus it's nice to have on hand so you can put a quick card together with whatever you have around. 

I used the Stitched Circle Dies from Simon Says Stamp to start the panel for the shaker portion of the card. I die cut the circles once again to make a simple frame for each circle and to create some interest for the front of the card. 

I adhered some acetate to the front panel with some strong double sided tape. I doubled stacked some foam tape so the sequins could have some room to move freely and framed out the area where the sequins would be. The sequins I used are from Kennedy Grace Creations Kindness Medley and Neat and Tangled Mermaid Tail Mix. I white heat embossed the sentiment onto some black cardstock and stamped the seaweed onto the front of the panel in some Going Green ink from Studio Calico. I popped the sentiment up with a bit of foam tape and added a few clear sequins onto the front to look like bubbles.

Paper Doll Birthday Tag

Hi there! I'm up on the Ink Road Blog again with something new to me. Paper dolls! I dressed her up for summer, let's take a look at the tag.

Making tags and clothes for the doll was a fun way for me to use up my paper stash and scraps of paper that were just too pretty to toss. I used a giant tag die from Little B and some paper from Pinkfresh Studio Felicity for the first layer of the tag. I die cut the tag once again from some gorgeous gold foil vellum from Dear Lizzy called Hooray. 

The paper doll is the Mindy stamp from Prima-Julie Nutting. I stamped Mindy with some Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink so I could give her a quick Copic coloring. I gave a quick listing of Copics used for her hair and skin. 

I stamped the dress portion onto some paper from My Mind's Eye On Trend 2 collection and cut out the entire dress. I did the same with the bottom ruffle of the dress. I simply cut them out and pieced them back on Mindy to give her a fun floral dress. 

One finishing touch worth mentioning is that I went around Mindy with a Memento Dual Marker in that same Tuxedo Black to get rid of that white cut edge. I think it gives her a finished look and makes her contrast against the tag a bit more. I die cut the sentiment twice from some black cardstock and the Little Yellow Bicycle die set. I used some Ribbon Remnants from the Ink Road Shop to add some more shine to the tag.

Loving Mom

Hi there! I have three fun cards to share with you using the Loving Mom stamp set from Kennedy Grace Creations. Lets have a look at the first card. 

I stamped the flowers in Memento London Fog ink and colored them with Copic markers. I used an embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers to emboss the white panel behind the flowers. I white heat embossed the sentiment and added some sequins from the Springtime mix from Kennedy Grace Creations. On to the next card. 

I die cut some Canson cold pressed watercolor paper using the Avery Elle Finished Frames die set and white heat embossed the flower. I used Zig Clean Color brush markers to bring the flower to life and made a quick mask to cover the flower so I could add some color to the panel. I used Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean, leaving the lightest part in the middle. I added water droplets and a napkin to remove some color and then added some splatter with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Teal. I die cut the sentiment from white glitter paper using Paper Smooches Birthday Words Dies. I pulled the sparkling clear sequins from the Frosted Cupcakes, Iced Berries and At the Beach sequin mixes from Kennedy Grace Creations. And the last card...

The wood grain patterned paper is called "Lizzy" from Maggie Holmes Bloom collection. I wrapped the panel with some May Arts twine and adhered it to the card base. I die cut some Canson watercolor paper using the Cross Stitch Rectangle dies from My Favorite Things and gold heat embossed the gorgeous flowers. I used Sakura Koi watercolors for the flowers. The sentiment was cut from gold foil cardstock and the Blessed die from Simon Says Stamp. The sequins are from the Springtime sequin mix from Kennedy Grace Creations.

Hello there! It's grand opening day for Kennedy Grace Creations!

 I've made two fun cards with the Beautiful Blooms, Sweet Rose stamp set. Let's take a look.

I white heat embossed the rose onto some Canson cold pressed watercolor paper and used Zig Clean Color brush markers to bring the bloom to life. I die cut the black banner using the Wonky Stitches die set from Avery Elle and white heat embossed the lovely sentiment. I pulled out the sparkling clear sequins from the Red Sangria sequin mix and from the Iced Berries mix for a variation of size. The patterned paper is from the Dear Lizzy Documentary 6x6 paper pad.

I stamped the roses from the Beautiful Blooms, Sweet Rose stamp set, colored them with Copic markers and added a layer of vellum over it to soften the look a bit. The patterned paper is from Pink Paislee's C'est la Vie collection No. 5. I die cut the patterned paper with Lawn Fawn's Stitched Scalloped Borders and once again with the reverse side of the paper to add a pop of color. The smile sentiment is from Lil Inker Designs which I die cut 4 times from black cardstock and adhered together for dimension. I gave the sentiment a once over with some Ranger Glossy Accents for some shine and called it a day.

Hibiscus Card Set

Hello there! I'm up on the Ink Road Blog today with this card set I made as a thank you to one of the teachers at my son's school. Let's take a look at the cards. 

I thought the hibiscus was perfect to get into that summer vibe, since school is out in 2 weeks and summer is around the corner! I have some cool tips to take the fear out of using some of these amazing color layering stamp sets. Let's jump right in. 

I used the Color Layering Hibiscus stamp set from Hero Arts for these images. My first tip is to make a practice sheet. This is how you figure out what colors work together and how the stamps line up before you stamp it on to your fancy cardstock or  patterned paper. (Keep your practice sheet with your stamp set after you're done as a reference to line them up the next time!) I used my Misti tool because I ended up making a total of 6 cards, 2 of each sentiment. 

My second tip: after I was happy with the color combo for each flower, I placed that layer on top of the ink pad in the order it was to be stamped. I also kept my practice sheet in front of me just in case I forgot how the stamp lined up. One last tip, these Memento inks wipe off my stamps with very little staining or with no staining at all. Yay! The inks used for the smaller flower include: Dandelion for the 1st layer, Cantaloupe for the 2nd, Tangelo for the 3rd and Ladybug for the last. The inks used for the larger flower include inks from the Kelly Purkey Fashion collection from Hero Arts. The first layer was stamped in the lightest pink from KP, the 2nd layer was stamped in the brighter pink, Lilac Posies for the 3rd and Grape Jelly for the last. The leaf was stamped in the green ink from the Kelly Purkey collection.

I made a quick mask of both flowers using some scrap paper and some adhesive so I could stamp the leaves to look like they're behind the flowers. The sentiments for the cards are from the Hello Gorgeous stamp set from Hero Arts. I used the Cross Stitch Rectangle Stax Die-namics from My Favorite Things to die cut the rectangle panel. I went over the flowers with some clear Wink of Stella for some shine and called it a day.

Hi there! I'm up on the Ink Road Blog today with a fun critter card for you today. Let's have a look at the card.

I made this card especially for one of our Ink Road Roadies who is graduating from college, we are so proud of her! Let's hope she likes it. Let's see how it's made. 

The card panel was die cut using the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches die. I used some Sea Glass ink from Simon Says Stamp and the Doodle Background stamp from Pinkfresh Studio. I used some Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and my blending tool to add more color to give the panel the look of an outdoor sky.

I made some cute bushes from some patterned paper from Lil' Inker Designs. I die cut the paper using the same Avery Elle Wonky Stitches die and the versatile Puffy Cloud Borders dies from Lawn Fawn to make the bushes. 

The cute critters are from the Avery Elle Woodland Wonders stamp set. I stamped them in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copic markers. I die cut the critters, banner and tree with the Avery Elle Woodland Wonders die set. I had to share that the die set came with this cute stitched loop, it's so adorable! I adhered the tree to the card panel and used some foam tape behind the critters to give them some dimension.
